If you've taken a gander at the 2010 Finishes list in my sidebar lately, you've probably noticed that I fell hard for Fresh Threads Studio's contribution to this year's Just Cross Stitch ornament preview issue, with a few twists. I stitched all of mine on 36 ct. antique white Edinburgh linen, and so far I have not purchased the crystal stars. I started out by stitching it in the colors charted. When I showed it to my daughter, she promptly snatched it and said, "Thanks!"
Which led me to stitch #2.
While stitching #2, I got to wondering what it would look like in shades of orange.
Then I thought it would look great in shades of other colors, too, like blue.
While I was stitching blues, my son requested black and red. Here is the result:
After that, I got back to my thoughts of pinks
and purples.
I had enough of the fat quarter left for one more, and I decided on darker blues with yummy DMC 995 as the main tree color.
I love stitching ornaments. They're so portable and they stitch up so quickly that it's almost instant gratification. If I ever get my act together and make all the ones I've stitched into actual ornaments, there just might be enough to pretty well fill a small tree. Or maybe the tree in Rockefeller Center. The stack keeps growing...
Speaking of stacks, I suddenly find myself the proud owner of not one, not two, but three copies of the 2010 JCS Ornament Preview issue in which Cool Christmas is featured. Since I only need one, I am putting the other two up for grabs. If you haven't already acquired a copy, please leave a comment specifying that you would like to be added to the drawing, and I will leave it up to the fates randomizer on Friday September 24. Entries will close at noon Pacific Daylight Savings Time. (Open to all, domestic and international, and you do not have to be a follower to enter.)

Wow! I really love all those - you did a great job with all the different colour combinations, it really changes the look of the ornament.
I'd love to be entered for the draw for the preview issue please - thanks!
Wow, all your different color combinations look great! My favorite one is the purple!
Please don't enter me in the giveaway...I already have a copy as well.
I already have my copy as a subscriber to JCS, but I will post and link this on my blog!!!
I just discovered this designer this morning when I received this years Ornie mag. I;ve been googling like mad but can't come up with a website for them. This is another darling design by them. All your ornies are adorable!
Not being able to get this magazine here in the UK I would love to enter your give-away.
The 24th is also my birthday so I am having a give-away too, please pop over, enter and say hi. Hugs.
Very nice! I especially like the red and black and the pink versions.
Oh, and yeah, I already have the mag, so don't enter me!
If you flip through them fast it is like the old color wheel light on the old time aluminum tree!!
I am new to your blog and just had to comment on your fantastic finishes on this ornament. I LOVE all the different colours! I love the purple one.
Pleas don't enter me in your wonderful giveaway for the mag as I already have it :)
I like your different colors...you certainly must be a fast stitcher!! I find that even ornaments sometimes take me awhile - I just think it's too many projects at one time to get progress so quickly - but that's me and I don't mind it. I have never looked at the preview issue but get the issue each year and love it. I would love the opportunity to be in your drawing. Thanks for the giveaway!!
Woah! Love the colourways you've gone with! It's always interesting seeing how the same design stitches up in difference colours!
Please enter me in your giveaway~
I am new to your blog and just love all your different colourway ornaments. I have this preview magazine and didn't notice this one until I saw yours. Would it be possible to tell us what colour numbers you used. I am no good at swapping things. Thanks very much.
OMG...all of these color combos are amazing. Just love them.
